Cortland Acres offers a six-week state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class at its facility in Thomas, W.Va. once a quarter. Upon successful completion of the course, application for employment at Cortland Acres will be offered.

CNA Training programs are required in every state to ensure that an individual is qualified to work in a long-term health care facility. To be certified in West Virginia, an individual must complete a minimum 120-hour State-approved nursing assistant training program. Upon successful completion of the training program, you must take and pass the State competency evaluation.

It is recommended that you apply for the first available examination upon completing your CNA program. However, you must pass the competency evaluation within two years of completing your CNA program. After passing the competency evaluation, you will receive a certification from the testing agent. Your nursing assistant registration will be valid for two years.
