This years’ Pasta Palooza is best ever

Thomas, WV – The 7th annual Pasta Palooza was held at Cortland Acres on Thursday, May 9th, with proceeds benefiting both the Tucker County High School ProStart Program and The Cortland Foundation.

The aroma of fresh spices and sautéing vegetables guided visitors to The Cortland Cafe where patrons enjoyed a freshly prepared Italian bistro-style menu. Festive decorations and beautiful floral arrangements donated by ThomasYard set the mood for an enjoyable dining event to raise funds for two local organizations.

Local club seeks photographic art for Cortland Acres

THOMAS, W.Va. – Cortland Acres, in collaboration with the Tucker County Photography Club, announces the fourth annual Photography Exhibition. Selected images will be used to create high definition canvas prints for display throughout Cortland Acres.

The annual Pasta Palooza benefits the TCHS ProStart Program

Thomas, WV – The 7th annual Pasta Palooza will be held at Cortland Acres on Thursday, May 9th and benefits both the Tucker County High School ProStart Program and The Cortland Foundation.

Each plate is individually prepared by TCHS ProStart students and their program instructor, Chef Carrie Shahan. During the event itself, Shahan and her student staff cook an assortment of pasta, prepare a variety different sauces and a mountain of garlic bread.

Tucker High School ProStart and the Cortland Foundation announce details for the 7th Annual Pasta Palooza

Thomas, WV - - The 7th annual Pasta Palooza will be held at Cortland Acres on Thursday, May 9th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Net proceeds benefit the Tucker County High School ProStart Program and The Cortland Foundation. This year, tickets are required for admission and sell for $15 per person from any TCHS ProStart student and at Cortland Acres in advance of the event and $20 at the door.

Western Pocahontas Properties Endorses Cortland’s Vision 2030

Thomas, WV – A monumental event for Tucker County and the region took place on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. In a signing ceremony at Cortland Acres, Western Pocahontas Properties publicly expressed its support for Cortland’s Vision 2030. As the largest private landowner in Tucker County and owner of all the property contiguous to Cortland’s existing campus, Western Pocahontas Properties plays a critical role in the fulfilment of Cortland’s Vision 2030. Acquiring as much as one hundred acres or more within Western Pocahontas Properties land portfolio may be necessary in order for Cortland to accomplish the initiatives adopted by its Board of Directors.

Cortland Acres celebrates 40th anniversary

Thomas, WV – Cortland Acres recently hosted a Founders Dinner to celebrate 40 years of continuous service to the region. Attended by many business leaders, partners and civic leaders from around the area, the celebration kicked off with a salute to the past and acknowledged the wisdom of Cortland’s founders.

Thomas, WV – Cortland Acres recently hosted a Founders Dinner to celebrate 40 years of continuous service to the region and share their vision for the future. Attended by many business leaders, partners and civic leaders from around the area, the celebration kicked off with a salute to the past and acknowledged the wisdom of Cortland’s founders.

Cortland Acres Board President, Pat Nichols spoke of the tenacity and vision required of the founders to make Cortland Acres a reality back in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. He identified visionaries such

The Cortland Foundation Unveils New Photography Exhibit

Thomas, WV – The Cortland Foundation hosted the second annual photography and wood craft auction on September 27th. The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of fourteen new photographic prints for the Blackwater Short-term Rehab wing. An additional, ten smaller images were unveiled and will be displayed throughout the facility.

The Cortland Foundation partnered with the Tucker County Photography Club to encourage photographers from around West Virginia and beyond submitted images that highlight the beauty and activities found in the northern West Virginia and western Maryland area and are representative of the people, places and pursuits found in this region. In the end, a total of one hundred and nine images were judged and curated by award-winning photographer Wil Hershberger.

The Cortland Foundation Announces Winners for 2018 Photography Contest

Thomas, WV – The Cortland Foundation and the Tucker County Photography Club announce the winners of the 2nd Annual Photography Exhibition. This year, a total of twenty-nine photographers participated and submitted a total of one hundred and nine images for consideration. In the end, the judge and curator, Wil Hershberger, selected fourteen images to adorn the walls on the Blackwater unit and ten more to be displayed throughout the facility.

Tucker County Photography Club sponsoring public tour of photography exhibit

Thomas, WV – Members of the Tucker County Photography Club invite the public to tour the Cortland Acres Photography Exhibition this Saturday, from 1 pm to 3 pm, as part of the 2018 ArtSpring festivities. This juried collection of Tucker County nature photography is the result of an annual photo contest and fundraising event for The Cortland Foundation. Cortlands’ “Bringing the Outside In” photo contest and exhibition concept recently won the West Virginia Health Care Associations Best Practice award.

Pasta Palooza Lives Up To Its Name

Thomas, WV – The 6th annual Pasta Palooza was held at Cortland Acres on Thursday, May 10th, benefiting both the Tucker County High School ProStart Program and The Cortland Foundation.

The aroma of fresh spices, pasta and cooking vegetables helped guide visitors to Cortland’s dining room. Once inside, guests enjoyed an Italian bistro-style dining experience with colorful room and table decorations to set the mood. Eight members of TCHS ProStart and program director Carrie Shahan cooked non-stop for hundreds of Cortland residents and members of the surrounding community.

The Cortland Foundation Receives Electric Car

Thomas, WV – The Cortland Foundation recently purchased an electric vehicle branded “Bubble Buddy”. Made possible by proceeds from fundraisers and unrestricted gifts from generous donors, the unique four-passenger vehicle has a wide-range of practical applications for Cortland’s thirty-five acre retirement community.

The Cortland Foundation Announces Date for the 6th Annual Pasta Palooza

Thomas, WV – The 6th annual Pasta Palooza will be held at Cortland Acres on Thursday, May 10th and benefits both The Cortland Foundation and the Tucker County High School ProStart Program.

The meal is individually crafted for each guest by TCHS ProStart students and their program instructor, Carrie Shahan. As the name suggests, the event will include a variety of pasta and sauce options with a diverse selection of fresh ingredients to be added such as crushed garlic, fresh spinach, meatballs, grilled chicken, sweet Italian sausage and much more. The menu also includes Caesar salad, garlic bread, freshly brewed ice tea or fresh squeezed lemonade and dessert.
