Cortland Acres received a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Nursing Home Compare program. The rating places Cortland Acres among the best in West Virginia and the Potomac Highlands region.
“This above-average mark is a testament to the hard work of our employees, who dedicate every day to providing outstanding care for our short- and long-term residents,” said Cortland Acres Administrator Beth Clevenger. “Receiving this recognition while operating during a pandemic is only made possible by cultivating high patient care standards along with a tremendous amount of teamwork.
“We are thankful for each Cortland Acres staff member whose efforts have made this success possible.”
The five-star rating for Cortland Acres, the highest possible rating obtained by CMS, is based on state-conducted health inspections, staffing and overall quality measures of medical care. CMS ranks nursing centers nationwide with the intent to help families and caregivers to compare nursing homes and make the best choice when deciding on care for a loved one.
“We always strive to constantly improve and be the best we can be,” Clevenger said. “We are focused on providing high-quality care and ensuring patient and family satisfaction. We also take pride in the compassion and caring shown by everyone who works at Cortland, and that makes the difference in residents’ lives daily.”
CMS decides their rulings by using regular inspections and data compiled from nearly 120 West Virginia long-term care facilities. Less than ten percent (10%) of the facilities achieve five-star status each year. To compare Cortland Acre’s results to other facilities, visit www.medicare.gov/nursinghomecompare.
